Geometric optics approximation for the Einstein vacuum equations

چکیده

We present recent works on the construction of high-frequency solutions to Einstein vacuum equations in general relativity, based [Tou22b, Tou23]. In these articles, author shows existence a family spacetimes (g λ ) λ∈(0,1] generalised wave gauge oscillating at frequency -1 and defined by geometric optics ansatz. this survey, we first review Cauchy theory for gauge, Burnett’s conjecture relativity. This will motivate our main result, which provide sketch proof high-lighting both quasi-linear semi-linear challenges.

Symmetric Vacuum Einstein Field Equations

According to Birkhoff’s theorem the only spherically symmetric solution of the vacuum Einstein field equations is the Schwarzschild solution. Inspite of imposing asymptotically flatness and staticness as initial conditions we obtain that these equations have general solutions with the Schwarzschild metric as merely a special and simplest form of them. It is possible to have perfect and smooth m...

Supercritical geometric optics for nonlinear Schrodinger equations

We consider the small time semi-classical limit for nonlinear Schrödinger equations with defocusing, smooth, nonlinearity. For a super-cubic nonlinearity, the limiting system is not directly hyperbolic, due to the presence of vacuum. To overcome this issue, we introduce new unknown functions, which are defined nonlinearly in terms of the wave function itself. This approach provides a local vers...

On the Bartnik Conjecture for the Static Vacuum Einstein Equations

We prove that given any smooth metric γ and smooth positive function H on S, there is a constant λ > 0, depending on (γ,H), and an asymptotically flat solution (M, g, u) of the static vacuum Einstein equations on M = R \ B, such that the induced metric and mean curvature of (M, g, u) at ∂M are given by (γ, λH). This gives a partial resolution of a conjecture of Bartnik.

Linear perturbations for the vacuum axisymmetric Einstein equations

In axial symmetry, there is a gauge for Einstein equations such that the total mass of the spacetime can be written as a conserved, positive definite, integral on the spacelike slices. This property is expected to play an important role in the global evolution. In this gauge the equations reduce to a coupled hyperbolicelliptic system which is formally singular at the axis. Due to the rather pec...

2 00 9 Unique continuation for the vacuum Einstein equations

We derive a unique continuation theorem for the vacuum Einstein equations. Our method of proof utilizes Carleman estimates (most importantly one obtained recently by Ionescu and Klainerman), but also relies strongly on certain geometric gauge constructions which make it possible to address this problem via such estimates. We indicate how our method can be used more broadly to derive unique cont...
